Vintage Cellar is delighted to announce the launch of the “Burgundy 2021 En Primeur Campaign”. The 2021 vintage was marked by the “quality” & “lack of supply” due to the unpredictable weather and the tiny harvest which resulted in limited production and availability in supply. Yet, the quality of what was made, is said to be very good! Wine critics shed more light on these parameters (Quality & Supply) during their wine tasting and evaluation of this victorious vintage. For instance, William Kelley was clear on the reduced supply and declared the following: ‘demand so vastly exceeds supply at the region’s top addresses that the much-diminished yields of 2021 mean that even only lackluster consumer interest will make allotting allocations a nightmare.’ On the other hand, Neal Martin described the quality of this vintage and said, “shockingly good in the context of an appalling growing season that pushed many to the brink, physically and mentally”. Furthermore, he goes on to stress the lack of supply being a serious concern saying ‘there are gems to find”. Jancis Robinson stated that despite the grueling growing season, what she tasted has been ‘delicious’. Based perhaps on conversations and views with producers during the season the quality has been higher than expected and this will be a vintage which appeals ‘to real cognoscenti of Burgundian Pinot Noir, to the absolute devotees of fragrance, limpidity and soft, ethereal tannins’. It is likely that the 2021 vintage will be very pleasing to Burgundy perfectionists who are eager to taste such a triumphant vintage! The En Primeur Campaign allows consumers and collectors to have access to regions and wines which are becoming increasingly harder to find and indeed to acquire.
